generate some good karma for yourself

Stephanie is doing the MS Readathon again this year. If you don’t know what that is, it’s an annual fundraising event where kids seek sponsorships for making an effort to read as much as they can during the Readathon (the month of June). The money they raise helps to improve the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.. all sorts of things like providing physiotherapy and counselling to helping them to buy a wheelchair or even giving people living in nursing homes a break by getting out to do something fun. And of course, as well as the help it offers to MS sufferers, it promotes literacy and reading for fun with kids which is a great thing too.

Stephanie has been doing really well this year and I am really impressed with her effort. Some of the books she’s chosen have been quite long ones, not necessarily difficult for her level but definitely a challenge and one that takes more than 5 minutes. Given that she’s not the most patient person in the world it has surprised and impressed me that she’s gotten through some of these books. A couple of times she has even asked for a bookmark so that she can keep going the next day which is new for her. (She’s very much an immediate gratification kind of person.)

So this is me asking very nicely if you can spare a few dollars to go along and sponsor the effort that she is making. Last year she raised $220 so this year the goal is for $250. So far she’s at $149. If just a few of you donate $10(US$9.50/UK£4.80/CA$9.70/NZ$12.50) or $20 or even if you can only spare $1, she’ll reach the goal very quickly :)

If you want to know what she’s reading, there is a running list on her blog that I am updating every couple of days.
