new pet achievements!

There are still no Achievements beyond “Collect 75 unique companion pets”. Can I expect a reward for 100 companion pets in the future?
Blizzard said: Patch 4.1 has achievements for 100 and 125 companions. Those particular achievements don’t reward pets, but we’ll probably do another reward at some tier in the future, perhaps 150 or 200 pets.

Finally! Though it kind of sucks that they don’t have any rewards. I was hoping for a Zookeeper title :)

I should get the 100 pet achievement as soon as the patch goes live. I think I have 110 at the moment.

two outta three..

WoWScrnShot_112510_203446_ Last night I went after the second of the new pets, Mr Grubbs. I wasted a bit of time to begin with because I neglected to read all of the information properly and hadn’t done the few quests that grant you the buff that allows you to see the drops of the item containing the pet. Once I did that, I started getting the Hidden Stashes and although I didn’t count I think it was probably between 20 and 30 of them that I opened before I finally got the pet. My very own worm. He’s quite clever, he does backflips.

Next is to take myself to Darkshore to obtain Withers. But Daniel and I decided to get ourselves Trikes, so we might do that first.

irrevocably

last week kristian asked me to get him a drink of apple juice. I told him that i would in just a minute and he wandered off doing whatever he wad doing. so I got up and made the drink for him and left it on the bench. a few minutes later I vaguely noticed him come back to the kitchen and have some of his drink and then head back towards what he was doing. but then he paused in the entrance to the kitchen and, like it was a kind of afterthought, told me, “i told you to get me a drink of apple shoes, mummy… well done.”
and continued on his merry way.

my new favourite quote thing is about “lobbing ‘nades at team jacob” from this week’s bff report. srsly. I don’t often watch those kind of articles on the wowhead blog but I was interested to see the new worgen stuff and i chuckled to myself all day about the twilight joke, silly though it was. (i’ll definitely have to check out next week’s bff report though, coz it’s goblins! can’t wait to roll me a goblin!)

i’ve been fuelling the twilight obsession by reading, um, unofficial additional material. there is some extremely strange shite out there. i’m talking about when you follow a link from somewhere to a different story only to find that the main relationship depicted is, say, edward and jasper, and yes, it goes there. that is not kosher. i don’t necessarily have a problem with slash, though i don’t really get the appeal, but i generally don’t care for non-canon pairings. perhaps because i get attached to the characters when i read, and when i have exhausted all canon sources for a particular series but i am not ready to move onto different characters, that is when i look at the fanfics. i want more of the people I have become attached to and when people write ‘alternate universe’ or ‘all human’ or ‘all muggle’ or non-canon relationships, it’s not a continuation of the story or a filling in of missing parts to the story, it’s.. using the names of characters that people already like so that they will read your story which doesn’t actually have anything to do with what they were looking for in the first place. it makes me feel misled and annoyed.
anyway. i was going to say that the people who are writing the twilight ff need to really give the word irrevocably a break. it was different and highlighted the whole ‘past the point of no return’ feeling the first time but when i see it used time after time after time…. come on, get a damn thesaurus, people.
i do have one non-canon pairing that i approve of, and that is sirius and remus. i love tonks and all, but i really thought it should have been moony and padfoot 4 eva. ;P
if you’re into it, you should check out this parody fic, funny shite. Nessie, or Renesmee, as absolutely no one called her ever because it is the single worst name in the history of the universe, even worse than “Blandina” which is actually the name of the patron saint of those falsely accused of cannibalism, and also worse than “Albus Severus” no matter what you might think, had demanded that she make friends. mostly twilight but has references to harry potter and other stuff, especially other vampire genres.

i have made a terrible error, in that i am too prepared for an upcoming event and now i must face temptation even greater than the scent of bella’s blood for the next 30 days. the upcoming event? a birthday. the error? i bought a present. it’s a re……AGGHHHHHH! NO! MUST RESIST!!! allow me to go fling myself against the far wall…

tomorrow, my mother and i are going to begin painting the town red. well, actually, not so much red really, as i’m not a huge fan of red and i don’t think her design contains great amounts of it either. and it’s not the whole town, just two parts of it. traffic boxes! and the best part is that we get to paint over the top of stuff done by the guy who stole our first box. i shall take great pleasure in painting over his name, so much so that i might even do it twice. so there.

and for a final bit of random, what is with the names of the dk minions? they totally suck. instead of stupid things like tombcrawler and wormslither could we maybe get some motherfuckers and arsekickers? i’m sure all the mobs would be much more scared and die much more quickly if they were being attacked by risen dead with somewhat less lame names.

exalted

i have gained my first exalted reputation! and just to be different, I think I chose the smallest, most insignificant faction to do it with: sporregar. i don’t know why I chose them, they have no recipes for my profession (jc and mining). there was just something I liked about the funny little mushroom mens.
one thing they do have when you get exalted is a pet. I like pets. before I started playing, daniel mostly played a hunter character, and he had a bear as his hunter pet. when I started to play I wanted a pet and was somewhat vexed when I discovered that I couldn’t have one, since I chose to be a shaman, not a hunter. so the first time our characters arrived in the teeming metropolis of thunder bluff, daniel abandoned me to try to find the various trainers and repairers I needed without exactly explaining the different rises of tb and how to navigate them. so he zipped around doing all sorts of things and then eventually found me again and said he had a present for me. that was my first mini/vanity pet, the brown prairie dog. as soon as I summoned him I /loved him, because i was very pleased, and I was in the habit of /loving everything I saw because daniel had told me that doing it eventually got you an achievement.
a little while later we found our way to orgrimmar and i got the three snakes from the guy there, and my pet collection was underway. :)
becoming exalted with sporregar meant that i could finally buy – for the high price of 30 radioactive looking mushrooms – my very own tiny sporebat. tiny sporebat is my 50th little companion, so he earned me the shop smart, shop pet… smart achievement and my 51st miniature friend, stinker. now I just have 24 more to go until lil game hunter :)
with the exception of pets that are only available from alliance only vendors, I have gotten all of my pets myself, either by farming or visiting the appropriate vendor, or some are quest and/or event rewards. i decided that I will only buy from the auction house those that it is actually impossible for me to get myself. I don’t have a single favourite but there are some I am quite pleased about having managed to obtain. I have darting hatchling, deviate hatchling, ravasaur hatchling, leaping hatchling, obsidian hatchling. i have been working on gundrak hatchling but no luck yet.
i like my black tabby cat, which took a lot of times looking for the npc that drops it and then about 5 kills for it to actually drop. I am quite fond of the pint-sized pink pachyderm and the wolpertinger from brewfest. daniel and I died a lot of times getting to all the bonfires to honour and desecrate enough of them to get the spirit of summer one during the midsummer event. (we were only about level 30 at the time so we hadn’t been to most of the places and the mobs totally pwned us in many! not to mention the alliance players that ganked us when we got pvp flagged after desecrating their bonfires. lots of res sickness there..)
I have a mechanical squirrel and tranquil mechanical yeti that daniel made, because he is an engineer. the quests to get him the recipe for that were funny, because you have to take the chick’s little yeti and scare her friends with it which results in them running around like idiots yelling dramatic things at the yeti.
just this week I got a cute little flaming puppy with two heads after I got the authenticator app for my ipod. it makes me feel kind of hagridish when I get that one out. I was also very pleased to get jubling and miniwing.
i would really like to complete the ‘set’ of dinosaur hatchlings, and I am going to get the pandaren monk one day, because he is super cool with his kung fu moves and the way he bows back to you if you bow to him. (i had him on my birthday wishlist so i thought I should wait until after midsummer to buy him myself, just incase.) i have been working on the kirin tor familiar too, and I have read just over half the books so far.
playing wow has been a really good distraction for me over the last few months. it is more challenging and interesting than zoning out to solitaire or chain rxn or something like that but it still lets me step out of this world that is too difficult to be in sometimes, into another one that has things you can aim for over time and things you can feel some satisfaction about having done when you manage to do it. that is good for the mind that may contain traces of nuts, too.
